If you've begun to research fish care, you've likely run across the term pH at least a time or two, as it's an essential determiner of fish health. pH is the term given to the measure of acidity or alkalinity. The measurement is done on a scale of 1 to 14, where neutral is 7. Any value less than 7 is acidic, while any value over 7 is basic or alkaline. The ideal pH of pond water for fish to thrive is about 7.5, but most koi fish can adapt to pH levels of 6.8 to 8.2, provided that changes occur gradually.

Unfortunately, elements in the environment and the quality of your water can impact the pH of your pond, making it less than ideal for your koi fish. pH control products allow you to maintain a health acid-base balance in the water, so that your fish will remain healthy.
